As the majority of our rules were written several years ago, some of them were due for a slight refresh to help and make them more relevant to the current revision of the server, and to be slightly clearer where some people have misunderstood what our intent behind the rules was occasionally, particularly the forum rules which hadn't been edited in a very long time.

None of the rules have been changed significantly and the intent behind all of the rules remains the same.

I would recommend that you take this opportunity to re-familiarise yourself with the rules if you have time, especially those of you who may not know them.

The official rules thread has been updated however I will also include a full copy of the rules below.

Spoiler for The Rules:
*These rules must be followed at all times, no exceptions.
*Overseers and all other Staff are included in Staff related rules; please do not disrespect or impersonate them.
*Staff members have the right to make decisions regarding what is acceptable and not, and what they consider to be breaking a rule. If you have been banned and you feel it is unjust, please make a ban appeal and the team will review the situation, this is the only way that your ban will be reduced or removed.
*Some forum rules are applicable to the in game chats as well. Use common sense when communicating through BattleScape.

Game Rules

1. Scamming
Any sort of scamming is against the rules. (Changing item to item is scamming. EX; Putting up an AGS and quickly replacing it with a BGS)

1.a Trust Gambling: Trust Stakes and other similar activities that rely on a 'trusted' player holding items to give to a victor, in order to avoid game mechanics for gambling, is against the rules. ALL parties involved will be treated equally if found guilty, regardless of win, loss, if both parties leave happy, or if you get scammed. This rule protects the players and economy of the server and should be taken seriously. Repeat offences will result in permanent bans.

1.b Middle-manning: You should only trust staff members to middleman your xfers (swapping items from account to account).
Any staff member is allowed to middleman xfers. Trusting none staff is done at your own risk.

2. Real World Trading
The only things you're allowed to trade on this private server and forums are BattleScape items for other BattleScape items. Punishments for breaking this rule will extend to a permanent ban if we see fit.

2a. Services: Fire caping, doing a quest, minigame, etc for payment is not allowed.

2b. Non-BattleScape: Any sort of non-BattleScape only trading is not allowed (RuneScape, Gift Cards, etc.)

You will also be banned for attempting such activities, This means even if you don't physically do the trade you would still face the same punishment. There is no expection or leniancey with this rule under any circumstances.

3. Bug Abuse
Abusing any sort of bug is against the rules. Found a bug? Report it. The section is private, and therefore, nobody else except for staff members will be able to see your threads/posts. Don't tell anybody of the bug, then you become involved in the potential abuse.

ANYTHING done for personal gain that isn't within game mechanics is abusing the system.

If you find a bug, report it, and do not repeat the action, you will not be punished. Doing anything other than this will result in punishment.

Anything not within game mechanics will be considered abuse. Boosting such as gifting people free kills is abuse. If in doubt, ask a member of staff before continuing any action.

4. Macroing/Botting
Macroing is the use of third party software that gives you an advantage. You are not allowed to use any sort of autoing tools to gain an advantage. This includes, but is not limited to: auto-typing, auto-clicking, mouse recorders, auto switchers, auto alchers, etc.

Auto-talking is allowed at home only through the game client options (right click public chat toggles).

4a. Botting: Anyone found botting ANY skill will face serious bans, In some instances the first punishment will be a permanent ban on all accounts.

Mouse Keys are permitted.

5. Threatening Other Players
Anything we consider to be a threat will be treated seriously, with malicious or realistic threats resulting in lengthy bans.

5a. Denial Of Service Attacks (DOS/****)
Threatening to or attacking another player or even the server will be taken very seriously and is strictly against the rules, not to mention the law.

6. Offensive/Inappropriate Language, Swearing, Censor Evading and Flaming
It is broken down into four parts.

6a. Offensive/Inappropriate Language: We do not encourage the use of offensive or extreme language. In most cases a member of staff will warn you to stop before action is taken, however if we feel the words used are particularly offensive or malicious we will often take action immediately.

6b. Inappropriate names: Accounts with names we deem to be inappropriate will be asked to submit a name change request. If you do not submit a request, we will choose a name for you.

6c. Censor Evasion: Evading mutes and kicks by using alternative accounts to continue talking, will result in longer and more serious punishments. If you have a issue with action that has been taken, you may use an alternative account to privately speak to a staff member or post an appeal.

Staff will have the final say regarding what is and what is not acceptable, you will generally receive a warning to stop before any action is taken unless you are very clearly out of line. Please listen to these warnings, even if you are in the middle of an argument. You know yourselves what we will consider unacceptable, if in doubt, ask a staff member privately beforehand.

7. Staff Impersonation
Claiming to be a member of staff when you're really not is completely against the rules.

All staff have a crown before their name in game, if they are using a different account you are welcome to request that they interact using their staff account so you can be sure who they are.

Making names to make it seem like you're a staff member, is also against the rules. This rule has no warning, and is a permanent ban when not followed. This can include retired staff members however you will often be asked to request a name change in this scenario instead of being banned.

8. Hacking
Hacking other players BattleScape accounts will not be tolerated at all. We WILL trace all accounts and items involved and punish those found at fault.

Players who willingly share accounts will receive little support if hacked, however we will punish the offender.

9. Disrespecting Members of Staff and/or Their Decisions
ALL staff decisions are final. If you have a problem with a decision then deal with it in private with the staff member or create an appeal in the relevant section. All staff members watch over each other. Generally speaking, the staff member who issued the punishment will deal with an appeal as they are the person who has the most information on the offence, if you are confident that this will not be a fair judgement, make it clear in your appeal that you wish for a separate staff member to deal with it, however the outcome will likely be very similar as we are all following the same guidelines. If a higher authority realises that an unjust decision was made, then compromise will follow.

10. Home CC
The Home Chat also has a very strict set of rules that must be followed at all times, regardless of who you are.

10a. Advertising: You are not permitted to excessively advertise anything in the Help Chat. This includes stakes, player shops, risk fights or anything that involves player activities. You will normally be asked to stop spamming if this is the case.

10b. Offensive Language: You are expected to be polite in the Help CC and show respect for your fellow players/members of staff. Disregarding these rules will almost always result in your being infracted and banned from the CC.

10c. General Disturbance: Any sort of disruption in the CC will fall under this sub rule. If a Member of staff thinks you're causing trouble he or she will act accordingly. Think before you speak.

Please remember that using the standard clan chat is a privilege, not a right, it can be removed if you constantly abuse it.

11. Ragging
Excessive ragging is against the rules, if your sole aim is to ruin the game for other players then we will make sure that you're unable too.

We will not consider ragging outside of edgeville and wests, if you're in deep wildy you get what you get. This rule is only in place to support people who want to 1v1 pk.

If you feel you are being ragged, please report players using videos or gifs that show your full client with your inventory and username showing, it also needs to show that you have asked the other person to get off. (a full length gyazo gif is acceptable if it clearly shows you being ragged.) please also include the name of the player you are reporting if it is not clearly shown in the video or gif. A minimum of 3 different occasions will be needed for the action to be considered 'excessive', please don't submit reports with one screenshot and expect any action.

Players will receive a warning before an initial ban of 3 days, if ragging continues the ban will be 7 days and then permanent.

11.a. If you want to rag back, that's fine nobody will be punished if a report shows both people ragging, however be cautious of your opponent baiting for a reaction.

11.b. Tribridding is not ragging, we will only accept it as so if there are many instances where you yourself are not in tribrid or rag gear and have made that clear to the other person.

11.c. Consistently PJ’ing someones fight may be considered ragging. Avoid harassing a single person in this manner.

Staff members have the absolute right to decide what and what they do not consider to be excessive ragging.

Falsifying evidence is against the rules.

You can download safe, opensource software (OBS) that can record your window here: https://obsproject.com/

13. Trading Outside of Game Mechanics
You are not allowed to trade between the Hard Mode economy and Normal economy. What this means is that you cannot offer for example: "100m cash Normal eco for 5m cash Hard Mode eco".

13.a The only exception with this is bonds, you are allowed to buy them on your Hardcore account(s) and then use the bond from your Normal account, for it then to become untradeable.

9b. Gravedigging: When someone brings a “dead thread back to life” by posting on a very old thread. If this thread is months old, and a common thread (simple suggestions, PKs, feedback, rants, etc.) and someone decides to post on it, then it is gravedigging.

We will allow other languages to be used in private messages, however will not invest time into reports regarding the use of said language.

12. Personal Information
Posting anyone’s personal information without their permission is completely against the rules. Personal information is personal. This includes addresses (Home/Work/School/E-mail), phone numbers, pictures, videos, etc.
